About the Role

Coordinate and assist with legislative and regulatory advocacy at the Texas Capitol, state executive branch offices, and federal government for Texas Farm Bureau Insurance Companies. Collaborate in assessing and strategizing for relationship development with elected officials and candidates.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in representing the Texas Farm Bureau Insurance Companies on policy matters with executive and legislative branches of government at state and federal levels, and with other organizations.
  • Research, monitor, and analyze proposed policies, rules, and regulations impacting the companies.
  • Secure legislative consideration of favorable measures and amend or defeat unfavorable measures.
  • Assist in developing and coordinating programs to improve company effectiveness with legislators.
  • Prepare testimony before legislative committees and regulatory agencies.
  • Monitor and report on hearings of legislative committees and state regulatory agencies.
  • Represent companies at trade groups and establish/develop relationships with industry peers and stakeholders.
  • Participate in industry association meetings and activities on state, federal, and regulatory issues.
  • Coordinate closely with the Director of Government Relations and Compliance to accomplish company goals.
  • Collaborate closely with outside lobbyists.
  • Comply with all relevant state lobbying laws and regulations for registration and reporting.
  • Comply with Certified Fleet Operation requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience working with the federal or state legislature, legislative staff, or private/public-sector experience in a related field.
  • Basic knowledge of the property and casualty insurance industry.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Valid Texas driver’s license and a driving record that does not place the employee on probation or disqualify them from Certified Fleet Operator status.
