About the Role

Homes for the Homeless (HFH) is seeking an experienced Safety Aide for their Families w/ Children facility in the Bronx. This role is crucial for ensuring the safety and comfort of families served by the organization, working within the security department and collaborating with other units.

Responsibilities

  • Patrol interior and exterior areas of the building.
  • Monitor resident entry and exit by maintaining a sign-in log and requiring identification.
  • Enforce rules and regulations.
  • Prepare incident reports or maintenance tickets on hazardous or dangerous conditions.
  • Learn and assist with fire safety plan and evacuation procedures, including fire drills.
  • Prepare for and assist in hazardous situations within the facility.
  • Intervene in incidents and assist in emergencies throughout the building.
  • Be attentive to post, potentially standing for extended periods.
  • Assist in emergency building situations such as snow shoveling or spill cleanup.
  • Work mandatory overtime, which may include full double shifts.

Requirements

  • Must possess a current NYS Security License at time of hire.
  • Must obtain FDNY Certificate of Fitness (F-02 Fire Guard for Shelters) within 60 days of hire.
  • Current 8-hour certificate.
  • 16-hour certificate.
