About the Role

As a Safety Aide, you will play a pivotal role in our organization, working within the security department, but collaborating with other units to ensure the safety and comfort of the families we serve.

Responsibilities

  • Patrol interior and exterior areas of building and report any safety hazards or unusual conditions to Safety Aides, Safety Supervisors and Director of Security.
  • Monitor the entry and exit of residents by maintaining a sign-in log and requiring identification.
  • Maintain daily log of all visitors and vendors as directed by a Safety Supervisor.
  • Prepare incident reports or maintenance tickets on hazardous or dangerous conditions including, but not limited to child safety issues and fire hazards.
  • Complete rounds of the building throughout a 7-hour shift.
  • Accompany the family services department on their room inspections and unit wellness checks.

Requirements

  • Valid NYS Security Guard License.
  • Current 8-hour certificate.
  • 16-hour certificate.
  • F-02 (Certificate of Fitness for Fire Guard for Shelters). F-02 must be obtained within 60 days of hire.
  • F-80 (Certificate of Fitness for Coordinator of Fire Safety and Alarm Systems in Homeless Shelters). Must be obtained within 60 days of hire.
  • T89 (Certificate of Fitness for Fire Life and Safety Director) is welcomed.
