About the Role
Homes for the Homeless (HFH) is seeking an experienced Safety Aide for our Families w/ Children facility in Bronx, NY. This role is crucial for ensuring the safety and comfort of the families we serve, working within the security department and collaborating with other units.
Responsibilities
- Patrol interior and exterior areas of the building.
- Monitor resident entry and exit by maintaining a sign-in log and requiring identification.
- Enforce rules and regulations.
- Prepare incident reports or maintenance tickets on hazardous or dangerous conditions.
- Learn the fire safety plan and evacuation procedures and assist in fire drills.
- Prepare for and assist in hazardous situations in the facility.
- Intervene in incidents and assist in emergencies throughout the building.
- Be attentive to post, potentially standing for hours.
- Assist in emergency building situations (e.g., shovel snow, clean up spills).
- Work mandatory overtime, which may include a full double shift.
Requirements
- Must possess a current NYS Security License at time of hire.
- Must obtain FDNY Certificate of Fitness (F-02 Fire Guard for Shelters) within 60 days of hire.
- Valid NYS Security Guard License.
- Current 8-hour certificate.
- 16-hour certificate.
- F-02 (Certificate of Fitness for Fire Guard for Shelters).
- F-80 (Certificate of Fitness for Coordinator of Fire Safety and Alarm Systems in Homeless Shelters) is a plus.
