About the Role
As a Safety Aide with Homes for the Homeless, you will play a pivotal role within the security department, collaborating with other units to ensure the safety and comfort of the families served at our Longwood, Bronx facility.
Responsibilities
- Patrol interior and exterior areas of the building and report safety hazards or unusual conditions.
- Monitor resident entry and exit by maintaining a sign-in log and requiring identification.
- Maintain a daily log of all visitors and vendors.
- Prepare incident reports or maintenance tickets for hazardous or dangerous conditions, including child safety issues and fire hazards.
- Complete building rounds throughout a 7-hour shift.
- Accompany the family services department on room inspections and unit wellness checks.
Requirements
- Must possess a current NYS Security License at time of hire.
- Must obtain FDNY Certificate of Fitness (F-02 Fire Guard for Shelters) within 60 days of hire.
- Valid NYS Security Guard License.
- Current 8-hour certificate.
- 16-hour certificate.
- F-02 (Certificate of Fitness for Fire Guard for Shelters).
- F-80 (Certificate of Fitness for Coordinator of Fire Safety and Alarm Systems in Homeless Shelters) is a plus.
- CPR certificate is welcomed.
