About the Role

Homes for the Homeless (HFH) is searching for an experienced Custodian/Porter for our Families w/ Children facility in Staten Island, NY. As the Custodian/Porter, you will play a pivotal role in our organization, ensuring a clean, well-maintained, and safe environment for our families in the facility.

Responsibilities

• Performs general cleaning and custodial duties in the common areas of the facility.
• Assists in cleaning and sanitizing restrooms and cafeteria.
• Ensures cleaning supplies are stocked.
• Vacuum, sweep, scrub, wax, and polish floors using brooms, mops or powered machines to strip floors.
• Clean and turnover units.
• Dust and Disinfect furniture, walls, machines, and equipment.
• Assists in examining the building for safety hazards, reports deficiencies to Director of Building Operations.
• Performs limited grounds maintenance such as mowing and cleaning snow from sidewalks.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Experience in custodial work.
• Familiar with the proper use of cleaning equipment and chemicals.
• Ability to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift, up to 60 pounds.
• Be able to stand for long periods of time (up to 9 hours).

• $35,000 - $40,000
