About the Role
The HS Associate Dean assists and supports HS leaders in implementing norms of conduct related to student safety, behavior, and discipline. This role is crucial for upholding school expectations and fostering a positive student environment.
Responsibilities
- Assists in upholding school expectations and clear systems for arrival, lunch, recess, and dismissal.
- Supports student transitions to ensure safe movement throughout the hallways.
- Documents and maintains organized databases of student attendance, discipline, and records.
- Meets with the dean-department to discuss school-wide issues, trends, and upcoming events.
- Promotes positive discipline behavior.
- Aids in systems supporting Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports (PBIS) and Restorative Practices.
- Ensures a high achievement culture.
- Follows guidelines in the Dr. Izquierdo Charter Schools Scholar Handbook.
- Conducts restorative conversations between students who have experienced conflict.
- Takes lead at student town halls and assemblies when applicable.
- Assists in ensuring student safety and well-being.
- Maintains and monitors safety and order by being accessible and visible in various school areas.
- Works closely with colleagues to ensure consistency and discipline across the school.
- Communicates positively with families to deter misbehavior and guide students.
- May lead an advisory class of scholars.
- Supports the vision of the Dean and Leadership in executing activities that bolster student engagement and school culture.
- Supports in enforcing classroom management best-practices school-wide.
- Attends grade team meetings as needed based on scholar behavioral trends and academic needs.
- Completes any other tasks or duties as assigned by the MS Principal and the Leadership Team.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree required.
- Related experience working in a school setting preferred.
- Bilingual/Spanish preferred.
- Successful experience in communicating with parents and students.
