About the Role
As Team Lead Accounting & Tax, you will lead a team of three accountants, oversee closing processes, audits, and tax filings. You will report to the Head of Finance and work closely with the CFO on tax and audit matters. The role involves using Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, intercompany reconciliation, and group reporting, with a focus on driving automation and process improvement.
Responsibilities
- Lead, develop, and organize the day-to-day work of the accounting team (AR, AP, GL), including workload distribution and quality oversight.
- Oversee the month-end close process, including accruals, prepaid expenses, recurring contract bookings, FX adjustments, balance sheet reconciliations, and P&L quality checks.
- Manage consolidated financial reporting across the group, including intercompany reconciliation and reporting packages for subsidiaries.
- Ensure timely and accurate completion of tax compliance tasks and deadlines, including VAT advance returns and corporate income tax filings.
- Coordinate with external tax advisors.
- Act as the primary contact for the annual statutory audit, including preparation, fieldwork coordination, and resolution of findings.
- Drive automation and efficiency within the accounting function by identifying and fixing manual bottlenecks in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, potentially using AI tooling.
- Support ad-hoc financial analysis for strategic initiatives.
Requirements
- Several years of experience in accounting within a German HGB environment.
- Initial experience directly leading or supervising a team.
- Solid working knowledge of German tax obligations (UStG, KStG).
- Ability to coordinate confidently with external tax advisors.
- A track record of driving process improvement or automation.
- Structured, reliable, and detail-oriented.
- Ability to take ownership of deadlines without being chased.
- Fluent in German and English (C1+), both written and spoken.
