About the Role

The Digital Literacy Program Educator provides administrative and program support for the digital literacy skills program, aiming to improve participants' lives and communities through electronic interactions and digital literacy skills.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high quality, digital literacy education and skill instruction using established curriculums at designated sites.
  • Utilize a variety of educational methods including direct teaching, group experiences, media, newsletters, electronic technology, internet, and distance learning.
  • Serve as a subject matter resource utilizing existing subject matter resources.
  • Collaborate with community agencies to facilitate programs and activities.
  • Assist with ensuring a safe, positive, and supportive atmosphere during all meetings and activities.
  • Represent CCE professionally to the public, community leaders, government officials, and other universities.
  • Assist with solving problems and resolving conflicts within the program.
  • Assist Supervisor by performing administrative tasks in guiding the implementation of the program budget.
  • Assist in identifying ways to reduce costs and maximize existing resources.
  • Maintain effective, positive relationships with the public through various contacts.
  • Process and maintain class enrollment and special event/program registrations and monies.
  • Create and maintain organized and up-to-date program and related administrative files and databases.
  • Assist with preparation of program support material.
  • Schedule and coordinate meetings, appointments, and special events.
  • Provide backup and support to the overall Association and other program areas.
  • Prepare and submit accurate expense reports, mileage reports, receipts/supporting documentation, and/or vouchers.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all information and data.
  • Provide data and information to assist with preparation of reports, impact statements, and success stories.
  • Transport self and/or program materials/resources necessary for performing position responsibilities.
  • Jointly develop and pursue a professional development plan with the Supervisor.
  • Participate in all required orientation, training, and/or in-service meetings and events.
  • Support the association to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Be familiar and strive to follow applicable federal, state, local regulations, and association health and safety policies.
  • Act proactively to prevent accidents/injuries and communicate hazards to supervisors.
  • Collaborate in activities that are in general support of Cornell Cooperative Extension.
  • Conduct all programming and activities in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
  • Adhere to established Cornell Cooperative Extension Association policies, procedures, processes, and Skills for Success.
  • Represent Cornell Cooperative Extension professionally to the public, community leaders, colleagues, volunteers, members of Cornell University faculty and staff, government officials, and the general public.
  • Perform all assigned duties in a professional, timely, and accurate manner.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance and punctuality.

Requirements

  • Associate or Equivalent Education. GED/High School Diploma with one-year transferrable program/functional experience may substitute.
  • Experience relevant to the role of the position.
  • Ability to meet travel requirements.
  • Ability to meet acceptable background check standards.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, which may include evenings and/or weekends.
  • Ability to clearly communicate (speak, read, and write proficiently) in English.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, clearly, and tactfully through verbal, written and electronic methods.
  • Ability to work independently, organize workload, handle administrative detail, work under pressure, and establish priorities.
  • Proficiency with windows-based software including use of the internet and Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Ability to work in a typical office environment which may include lifting, moving, and/or transporting office supplies, work related materials, and equipment with or without accommodation.
  • Experience in record keeping, data management, customer service, and general office functions.
  • Experience with web site support/maintenance.
  • Knowledge of Cooperative Extension programs.
