About the Role
Assists the Director of Housekeeping in managing housekeeping operations for rooms, public areas, and back-of-house areas to maintain the hotel’s high standard of cleanliness.
Responsibilities
- Assists in training and career development of all housekeeping employees.
- Assists with performance evaluations and communicating performance standards.
- Inspects guest rooms, storage areas, laundry areas, restrooms, and public areas for cleanliness.
- Assists in scheduling staff according to standards and forecasted occupancy.
- Assigns daily work tasks to employees.
- Ensures completion of the Housekeeper’s Report.
- Communicates clean and available rooms to the Guest Services Department.
- Documents and communicates maintenance requests to the Maintenance Department.
- Responds quickly to guest requests in a friendly manner and follows up to ensure guest satisfaction.
- Reports and follows procedures for workplace injuries and accidents.
- Instructs staff on safe working practices and enforces Health and Safety regulations.
- Follows and communicates company policies and procedures to subordinates.
- Conducts training on safety, security, department procedures, and service guidelines.
- Ensures hotel compliance with federal, provincial, and local laws, including Health and Safety, ESA, and Human Rights.
- Manages purchasing, inventory, and other controls.
- Establishes and enforces all safety policies and procedures.
- Ensures employee compliance with Health and Safety legislation and regulations.
- Corrects employees observed breaking safety rules and disciplines repeat offenders.
- Detects and eliminates, or reports for correction, all physical hazards and unsafe conditions immediately.
- Performs random safety checks monthly and reports deficiencies.
- Conducts orientation for all new employees, including WHMIS, job hazards, accident reporting, CPR, first aid, back injury prevention, fire procedures, and safety awareness programs.
- Re-instructs regular employees who develop unsafe work practices.
- Ensures employees use required safety equipment, protective devices, or clothing.
- Investigates all employee accidents thoroughly and immediately, gathering facts from the injured worker and witnesses.
- Fills out necessary accident report forms promptly and completely for submission to Human Resources.
- Insists on good housekeeping and enforces the “Clean As You Go” practice.
- Maintains active involvement in accident prevention and reduction objectives.
- Takes every reasonable precaution for the protection of employees.
- Communicates room status, coordinates services, and resolves problems with Guest Services.
- Communicates repair needs to Maintenance.
- Provides service to guests.
- Orders and receives supplies from vendors.
Requirements
