About the Role
The barback assists the bartender and team members with daily duties to provide excellent customer service, showing the highest level of attention and empathy.
Responsibilities
- Serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks to guests
- Memorize beverage recipes and create a diverse selection of mixed drinks for patrons
- Serve a selection of food items to guests seated at the bar area
- Receive and prepare drink orders from guests or servers
- Develop and maintain interpersonal relationships with repeat guests
- Verify the identification of guests to ensure compliance with age requirements for alcoholic beverages
- Remain aware of guest alcohol limits and level of orderliness at the bar per TIPS training
- Cut fruit for specialty drinks
- Stock bar with adequate amounts of wine, beer, liquor and other beverages
- Stock other bar related supplies, as needed
- Assist in the development of beverage menus
- Plan, organize and control the operations in the bar area
- Present checks, collect payment and cash out each guest correctly with transaction receipts
- Complete and check cash-out at the end of shift
- Clean glasses, utensils and bar equipment
- Mop and scrub floors, sinks, coolers and counters at the end of each shift
- Complete all side work and daily cleaning tasks
- Comply with additional cleaning responsibilities that may be required at the conclusion of each shift
- Attend all mandatory training and meetings
- Maintain positive and helpful attitude with all guests and employees
- Maintain professional demeanor and adhere to proper dress policy
- Follow guidelines and expectations as stated in the employee handbook
- Notify the restaurant management team of any issues encountered
- Other duties, as assigned
Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Attention to detail
- Strong decision-making skills
- Experience with guest relations
- Must demonstrate a professional demeanor
- Flexibility with hourly schedules, including weekend, holiday and evening availabilities
Skills
- Excellent verbal communication skills
Education Level
- High school degree or equivalent
