About the Role

SiriusXM is seeking a candidate to work with producers and programming teams to create superior radio programs for Doctor Radio, a medical channel in partnership with NYU Medical Center. This role supports creative processes, content development, and production, utilizing both creative and technical skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in the development of content for shows, including researching topics, drafting segment outlines, and proposing sound/clip concepts.
  • Develops novel and creative ways to present content, identifying opportunities to refresh recurring segments and improve pacing.
  • Attends creative meetings and contributes to program content selection, using data, listener feedback, and prior show learnings.
  • Works with the programming team to identify and select guests, coordinating logistics and ensuring pre-interview materials are captured.
  • Obtains audio materials needed for production, ensuring usage/attribution requirements are captured and flagging compliance concerns.
  • Assists with scheduling program elements prior to air, ensuring rotation and policies are followed.
  • Runs the audio board for live and taped programs and edits audio for on-air use, making real-time adjustments.
  • Determines and mixes sound elements for assigned shows, balancing voice, clips, music beds, and live callers.
  • Dubs sound from various sources, validating source quality and selecting the best version for broadcast.
  • Enters clip information, music, and non-music elements into audio software, maintaining accurate metadata.
  • Loads and deletes clips, and rips and edits promos and spots, ensuring they meet timing requirements.
  • Ensures on-air product meets broadcast standards before leaving studios, performing final checks and escalating issues.
  • Ensures sound equipment is functioning properly during shows, troubleshooting issues and coordinating with engineering.
  • Works with talent and Producers on programming clocks, providing real-time timing cues and recommending adjustments.
  • Reviews work products with supervisor and incorporates feedback.
  • Monitors assigned channels for quality control and reports content or technical issues for correction.
  • Edits audio, delivering polished final files that meet format and loudness expectations.
  • Maintains a database of program content for archival use, curating and organizing content for reuse and searchability.
  • May be required to fill in for producers, owning defined show elements end-to-end.
  • May lead the work of production assistants, board operators, and interns, providing task guidance on studio procedures and quality standards.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent, relevant experience.
  • At least 2 years of experience at a radio station or audio production facility.
  • Excellent creative writing and communication skills for radio.
  • Strong interest in current events and pop culture, as related to assigned channels/programs.
  • Comfortable working with talent, artists, and high-profile individuals.
  • Interpersonal skills and ability to interact and work with staff at all levels.
  • Spelling, grammar, proofreading, and editing skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to pay attention to details and be organized.
  • Ability to project professionalism over the phone and in person.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to “internal client” and customer service principles.
  • Willingness to take initiative and follow through on projects.
  • Excellent time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and multi-task, and work under shifting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Zetta, Adobe Audition.
  • Proficiency in mixing sound elements into a professional sounding product.
  • Proficiency in operating an audio board.
  • Consistently applies established on-air standards and demonstrates sound judgment in identifying issues and escalating appropriately.
  • Comfortable partnering with cross-functional stakeholders (e.g., programming, studio operations/engineering, and NYU Medical Center partners) to deliver assigned show elements.
  • Must have legal right to work in the U.S.
