About the Role
Join Alto's transformative high-speed train project connecting Quebec City and Toronto. This role supports the Vice President, Legal Affairs, and contributes to the department's objectives and corporate mission.
Responsibilities
- Provide legal advice to senior management on infrastructure, P3s, project financing, and M&A related to agreements with the private development partner.
- Lead and manage the 3 Senior Legal Counsels within the Legal Affairs – Transactions function.
- Oversee legal aspects of assigned files, collaborating with various legal advisors and stakeholders.
- Manage the quality and cost of external legal services provided by retained law firms.
- Draft, revise, and negotiate various legal documents, including contracts and analyses.
- Advise other vice-presidencies on project legal risks and company obligations, proposing mitigation solutions.
- Conduct research on specific legal issues.
Requirements
- Law degree and membership in good standing of the Quebec or Ontario Bar.
- Minimum 15 years of professional experience in a similar role with a significant commercial and corporate component in major infrastructure projects.
- Minimum 5 years of experience managing teams with direct reports.
- Exceptional rigor.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Experience in negotiating and drafting corporate contracts, particularly in M&A and financing.
- Ability to work in a team-oriented environment and interact effectively.
- Dynamic, resourceful, and results-oriented.
- Perseverant, flexible, and efficient.
- Bilingualism in French and English (spoken and written) is a significant asset.
