About the Role

This is the first internal accounting hire with the opportunity to make an outsized impact on accounting processes, policies, and reporting. You will own the accounting close, partner with external providers, and deliver seamless, accurate, and consistent reporting standards. You will also enhance internal tooling and reporting as a thought partner to other leaders.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the monthly close is done consistently and timely.
• Partner with external providers on monthly close procedures and reconciliations.
• Partner with department leaders on proper expense tagging, allocations, and reporting.
• Prepare the reporting package once the close is complete.
• Build out revenue reporting processes with newly implemented tooling to drive automation.
• Oversee day-to-day accounting operations: AP, vendor management, accounting policies, sales tax, and 1099s.
• Implement internal controls appropriate for the company size.
• Maintain documentation and reconciliations for audit readiness.

Requirements

• Operational experience and deep knowledge of revenue and the broader accounting close.
• Experience with financial audits and an understanding of internal controls.
• Knowledge of accounting tooling and systems.
• Perspective on building strong reporting processes for high-volume transactions.
• Experience working with unstructured data.
• Strong knowledge of spreadsheet formulas and tooling.
• Comfort with ambiguity.
• Ability to bring order to numerical processes.
• Treat small details seriously and take pride in making things work.
• Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related track.
• 4+ years of accounting experience across public accounting, senior accountant, or accounting manager roles.
• Hands-on ownership of month-end close and account reconciliations.
• ASC 606 revenue recognition experience.
• Audit experience including preparing PBC support and workpapers.
• Highly self-directed.
• Experience working with external partners in tax and accounting (nice-to-have).
• Experience in a finance or accounting role at a high-growth startup (nice-to-have).
• Must already be authorized to work in the United States.
