About the Role
RSM Canada is seeking a Managing Director for its National Tax Office. This role involves leading the National Tax practice, providing thought leadership, and advising clients and internal teams on complex tax issues. The ideal candidate will be interested in the intersection of Canadian income tax legislation and its practical application.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the National Tax practice and client relationships for complex engagements.
- Deliver high-value tax advice and expand services.
- Collaborate with other specialty groups on technical tax matters.
- Advise clients on tax controversy matters, including audit and appeals processes.
- Develop and deliver internal and external presentations on tax developments.
- Drive technical tax innovation across the firm.
- Serve as a performance advisor, mentor, and coach.
- Provide timely and actionable feedback.
- Develop and train staff, fostering a collaborative environment.
- Communicate complex tax concepts clearly to clients.
- Interact directly with clients to address questions and consulting needs.
- Review research to ensure alignment with firm policies and standards.
- Build cross-functional relationships for integrated client service.
- Stay current on tax regulations and firm guidance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Travel may be required based on business needs.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.
- Active CPA or LLB/JD designation.
- Minimum of 12 years of relevant tax experience in a large accounting firm or similar environment.
- Comprehensive understanding of tax law and implications.
- Effective project management skills, including managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Ability to maintain accuracy and quality in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to lead collaborative teams.
