Join us in our mission to make a difference and shape a more inclusive future. The Center for Disability Services offers hope, innovation and achievement to the people we support. We are looking for Teaching Assistants to join our Albany CloverPatch Preschool in Albany, NY.
Responsibilities
- Assist in instructional activities as directed by the teacher, including direct instruction of students.
- Assume responsibility for the class when the teacher is absent or unavailable.
- Follow mobility, dining, and direct care protocols as directed by the teacher or therapist and as noted on individual fact sheets.
- Assist with management needs of students, including performing duties related to activities of daily living (toileting, diapering, washing, tooth brushing), dress/undress, putting on/removing adaptive equipment, and setting up students’ learning environment.
- Carry out therapeutic goals within classroom activities as directed by and in conjunction with the therapist, including systematic lifting and positioning of students and application and removal of equipment.
- Record data and monitor student responses as directed by the teacher or other team professionals.
- Follow behavioral plans/intervention techniques for assigned students, as directed by the teacher, school psychologist, and/or behavior support staff.
Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED required; college credits preferred.
- Must obtain NYS Teaching Assistant Certification within one year of hire.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
