Join us in our mission to make a difference and shape a more inclusive future. The Center for Disability Services offers hope, innovation and achievement to the people we support. We are searching for a full-time Special Education Teacher - School Age to join our Prospect Center in Queensbury, NY!
Responsibilities
- Develop students’ Individualized Education Plans
- Develop and implement lesson plans incorporating goals/objectives from all disciplines of each student's IEP
- Implement and monitor behavior and classroom management plans/techniques when necessary
- Develop and adhere to an established daily schedule making daily modifications/adjustments as required
- Maintain communication with classroom team, parents and program directors regarding students' performance
- Develop lesson plans incorporating the IEP goals and objectives for each student
- Reinforce appropriate student behavior by utilizing progressive discipline techniques
- Establish, communicate and monitor clear expectations for both students and classroom staff
Requirements
- Initial NYS Certification in Childhood Education and Students with Disabilities Grades 1-6 or Special Education Permanent
- Master’s degree in Special Education
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds independently
- Candidates with a Bachelor’s degree may be hired initially, as New York State allows individuals with an Initial Certification to teach while completing their Master’s degree within a five-year timeframe
