About the Role
The Center for Disability Services is seeking Teaching Assistants to join the Langan School in Albany, NY. This role supports individuals with disabilities through innovative programs and vital services.
Responsibilities
- Assist in instructional activities as directed by the teacher, including direct student instruction.
- Assume responsibility for the class when the teacher is absent or unavailable.
- Follow mobility, dining, and direct care protocols as directed by the teacher or therapist.
- Assist with student management needs, including activities of daily living, dressing, and setting up the learning environment.
- Carry out therapeutic goals within classroom activities as directed by therapists.
- Record data and monitor student responses as directed by the teacher or other professionals.
- Follow behavioral plans and intervention techniques for assigned students.
Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED required; college credits preferred.
- Must obtain NYS Teaching Assistant Certification within one year of hire.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
