About the Role
The PRAM Engineer will provide support to HS2 in delivering an end-state railway that meets PRAM system-level requirements. This role will facilitate the development of PRAM requirements across HS2, ensuring organizational coordination for an integrated railway.
Responsibilities
- Work with the Senior PRAM Engineer to support the strategic approach to PRAM throughout HS2, ensuring suitable resources, tools, and processes are in place.
- Define multi-disciplinary requirements, interfaces, and technical solutions for each function and capability using appropriate PRAM analysis tools.
- Facilitate the disaggregation of PRAM requirements into delivery organization and contract works information for clear delivery obligations.
- Support the tracking of PRAM delivery progress throughout the lifecycle, undertaking System Level Reviews (SLRs) and escalating issues when necessary.
- Support the collection of PRAM information during testing, commissioning, and in-service phases by deploying DRACAS and FRACAS to measure reliability growth and advise on corrective actions.
- Work closely with technical specialists in engineering, operations, maintenance, and system safety to ensure coordinated development and delivery of PRAM requirements.
- Actively promote and embed Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) in all work, supporting and complying with organizational initiatives, policies, and procedures on EDI.
Requirements
- Able to provide specialist technical support and leadership on discipline-specific scientific, technical, and engineering principles to project development/delivery teams, knowing when to seek further guidance.
- Capable of supporting the Standard Owner, working under the guidance of the Standard Discipline Owner.
- Able to support project development/delivery teams with technical or commercial management considerations, working under supervision.
- Ability to communicate discipline-specific technical ideas to colleagues, based largely on examples of application.
- Ability to articulate many principles relating to standards, safety, and the environment.
- Applies principles and methods that ensure effective information management, modelling, and data security; understands approaches and consequences to data creation, transformation, and visualization, and knows when to seek guidance.
- Applicable UK construction regulations including CDM requirements.
- Understanding of the application of the Common Safety Method (CSM) for risk evaluation and assessment.
- Understanding of the Regulatory/Legislative Framework relevant to HS2.
- Commercial awareness including understanding of cost delivery, schedule targets, and the need to deliver an integrated solution that meets all functional requirements.
- Knowledge restricted to own discipline.
- Working towards Chartered Engineer/Membership of an appropriate professional institution or equivalent experience.
- Experience in managing standards, engineering, and safety activity on any engineering projects/programmes.
- Experience of supporting the management of competing project and engineering demands, with cost and schedule implications on any engineering projects/programmes.
- Must have the Right to Work in the UK at the time of application.
- Satisfactory completion of pre-employment checks (Nationality & Immigration Status, employment references, DBS, Financial and Education checks).
