About the Role

We are seeking a policy adviser to join our resource stewardship theme, contributing to ambitious environmental leadership and potentially working on projects within our Legislation & Governance unit. This role will shape circular economy policy and environmental legislation in the UK by identifying evidence, building relationships with stakeholders, and managing projects.

Responsibilities

  • Research and analysis on policy relating to resources and other themes.
  • Produce reports, briefings, articles, blogs, consultation responses, and other communications materials.
  • Act as a persuasive advocate for key policies.
  • Support relationships with project partners and stakeholders.
  • Manage and support projects, ensuring delivery to time, budget, and quality.
  • Plan and manage meetings, webinars, and events.
  • Build new audiences and alliances for theme work and develop new project ideas.
  • Maintain and update records of important contacts.
  • Develop strong relationships with policymakers and stakeholders.
  • Represent Green Alliance externally, including at events and in the media.
  • Contribute to an inclusive workplace by aligning with the EDI action plan.
  • Work effectively as part of a team and independently with initiative.
  • Undertake any other reasonable tasks as requested.

Requirements

  • Motivation to work in a purpose-driven organization focused on environmental thriving.
  • Understanding of UK environmental policy and processes, particularly resources policy, or willingness to develop it.
  • Experience in policy research and analysis; ability to synthesize information and make recommendations.
  • Experience in supporting or leading programme delivery, co-ordination, and administration.
  • Ability to create engaging, high-impact communications tailored for specific audiences.
  • Affinity for working in a team and independently, adapting quickly to new opportunities.
  • Specific expertise in the circular economy, consumption, or resource stewardship (desirable).
  • Knowledge of the UK environmental NGO and business sectors (desirable).
  • Experience working with civil servants, politicians, or in Parliament, and advocating for policy changes (desirable).
  • Excellent research, drafting, and writing skills.
  • Confident communication, influencing, and advocacy skills.
  • Good project planning, prioritisation, and delivery skills.
  • Ability to build strong relationships and networks with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Must have the right to work in the UK.
  • Not eligible for visa sponsorship.

Salary/Compensations

  • £36,192 - £39,936
