About the Role
The Merchandiser will ensure the optimal product mix, pricing, and promotional strategy to maximize commercial performance across subscription and gifting in both the UK and Germany. This role acts as a critical link between the Flowers, Creative, Ops/Buying, Marketing, and Commercial teams.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and plan the upcoming flower calendar, ensuring a balanced range of styles, colors, and price points, considering seasonal moments in the UK and Germany.
- Manage and communicate the flower calendar, taking ownership of launch/end dates, pricing, sales channels, and any mid-cycle changes.
- Own, source, and manage add-ons and shop range to drive growth in Average Order Value (AOV) and incremental revenue from one-off shop purchases.
- Set and manage pricing for all arrangements across choice and gifting, experimenting with dynamic pricing on gifting.
- Understand costs and manage margins in close collaboration with Buying and Flower teams.
- Set and manage pricing for shop products.
- Conduct competitor analysis across both UK and German markets.
- Manage peak period short-term trading (Valentine's Day, Christmas, Mother's Day), focusing on maximizing net revenue while accounting for waste.
- Optimize the gifting range for conversion during seasonal peaks.
- Manage delivery fees to optimize profit.
- Manage visual merchandising onsite for flowers and add-ons.
- Manage product listings and navigation to drive sales across gifting and subscriptions.
- Utilize merchandising levers to maximize net profit weekly, considering waste.
- Ensure products are correctly tagged to aid discovery.
- Produce weekly and monthly performance reports on key trading metrics, including subscription sales, swaps, gifting sales, and traffic/conversion rates on gifting PDPs.
- Use performance data, competitor analysis, and consumer insights to inform future range, pricing, and promotional strategies.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Merchandiser, Trader, or similar role, preferably within a direct-to-consumer (D2C) or fast-paced retail business.
- Strong commercial acumen with a track record of sales and margin growth.
- Strong analytical skills with experience in interpreting sales data and generating commercial insights.
- Excellent cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder management skills (Creative, Marketing, Operations).
