About the Role

Austin Community College (ACC) is seeking an innovative, student-centered, and industry-experienced professional to join our team as a Full-Time GIS Faculty member. This role supports learning on campus, online, and in a hybrid flexible format, teaching introductory through advanced GIS courses. The successful candidate will prepare and deliver coursework in engaging, innovative ways, fostering student success and belonging. This position is primarily in-person and begins in January 2027.

Responsibilities

Prepare and teach courses in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to a multicultural student population.
Participate actively in departmental responsibilities and governance, including curriculum review, program review, and assessment.
Evaluate student progress and provide clear, timely feedback.
Serve as a mentor to students in the GIS program.
Provide teaching and mentoring services without discrimination.
Remain current in the field through professional development activities.
Support division and department goals through collegial engagement.
Serve on collegewide and departmental committees, councils, work groups, and task forces.
Perform other related tasks as assigned.
Support program recruitment efforts, including outreach and marketing.

Requirements

Demonstrated proficiency using computer applications, online resources, and other classroom technologies.
Demonstrated proficiency using an online learning management system (e.g., Blackboard).
Demonstrated proficiency using Esri desktop and cloud GIS, mobile data collection apps, and web mapping applications.
Appropriate use of the college's learning management system.
Meet deadlines for attendance certification and submission of final course grades.
Participate in graduation, general assembly, and other official college functions.
Maintain regular office hours to assist students.
Attend and participate in collegewide, campus, department, or other activities and meetings.
Recognize and reflect standards of civility and collegiality.
Comply with published college policies and procedures.
Maintain confidentiality of student information.

Experience Level

Bachelor’s degree in a geospatial or earth science field
Master's degree with 18 graduate hours in geography or geospatial coursework

Salary/Compensations

$64,427 - $96,197 (Based on a 10.5 month Contract to start Spring 2027)
