About the Role
The Physical Therapist Assistant Faculty supports learning across various modalities including campus, distance learning, simulation, and clinical experiences. This role requires contemporary expertise in neurological diseases and conditions for patients of all ages. The faculty member is responsible for preparing and delivering engaging, innovative coursework that reflects a commitment to student success and fosters an environment of belonging. This position begins in January 2027.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and teach courses in the Physical Therapist Assistant field to a multicultural student population, adhering to department-approved learning outcomes and utilizing diverse instructional strategies.
- Actively participate in departmental responsibilities and governance, including curriculum review, program review, and assessment of student learning outcomes.
- Evaluate student progress and provide timely, clear feedback aligned with program learning outcomes and departmental expectations.
- Serve as a mentor to students within the Physical Therapist Assistant program.
- Provide teaching and mentoring services without discrimination based on protected categories.
- Engage in professional development activities to remain current in the field.
- Support division and department goals through active and collegial engagement in decision-making and planning.
- Serve on collegewide and departmental committees, councils, work groups, and task forces.
- Perform other related tasks as assigned by department leadership.
- Travel to community partners and clinical sites as needed.
Requirements
- Demonstrated proficiency with computer applications, online resources, and classroom technologies.
- Demonstrated proficiency with an online learning management system (e.g., Blackboard) for course development and administrative duties.
- Appropriate use of the college's learning management system.
- Meet deadlines for attendance certification and submission of final course grades.
- Participate in graduation, general assembly, and other official college functions.
- Maintain regular office hours to assist students and enhance retention and success.
- Attend and participate in collegewide, campus, department, or other activities and meetings.
- Recognize and reflect standards of civility and collegiality in all interactions.
- Comply with published college policies and procedures and meet professional standards for teaching in a community college.
- Employees are required to maintain a domicile in the State of Texas while employed by the college.
- Employees are required to report violations under Title IX and, under the Jeanne Clery Campus Safety Act (Clery Act), select individuals are required to report crimes.

- Work is routinely performed in a classroom or laboratory setting.

Experience Level

- Associate degree in Physical Therapist Assistant with current unencumbered licensure, certification or registration
Salary/Compensations
- $73,631 - $109,939 (Based on a 12-month Contract to start Spring 2027)
