About the Role

The Manager, Language Services, will lead the translation function for the communications department, ensuring all corporate documents are available in both official languages while maintaining their original meaning, format, and tone. This role involves managing translation administration, procurement, and vendor relations, and serving as a subject matter expert on Official Languages best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Translate documents, including corporate reports, communications, audiovisual content, legal documentation, and technical/financial content.
  • Ensure proofreading, spelling, punctuation, and writing consistency in both official languages.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and performance management to Language Services team members.
  • Research industry-specific terminology and apply best practices to CIB documents.
  • Manage translation tools, vendors, and budget, including CAT tools, agencies, training, and glossaries.
  • Ensure high-quality translation results and provide excellent internal customer service.
  • Support the official languages champion in fulfilling responsibilities related to the Official Languages Act and Policy.
  • Develop employee awareness activities to promote understanding of official languages obligations.
  • Promote the advancement of English and French within the organization.
  • Perform other duties as needed and directed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in translation, interpreting, or similar field.
  • 8+ years of experience as a translator and proofreader.
  • Knowledge of and experience with provincial and federal language regulations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite (Acrobat Pro, InDesign, Illustrator), and Figma.
  • Bilingual French and English (written and oral) mandatory.
  • French native speaker, TEF C2 or Superior level mandatory.
  • Excellent proofreading skills with the ability to identify grammar, spelling, and punctuation errors.
  • Ability to apply existing standards to new or different documents.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills.
  • Capacity to work independently and proactively solve issues.
  • Excellent knowledge of content editing tools and affinity for technology.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to perform under pressure within tight deadlines.
