About the Role
We are seeking a mechanical or biomedical engineer with a mechanical engineering focus to develop cutting-edge medical devices and precision surgery technology. You will collaborate directly with the co-founders on the design, development, and testing of our clinical prototype, tackling complex engineering challenges involving precision mechanics, novel electronics, microfluidics, and ultrasound physics. As an early employee, you'll have the chance to contribute across various aspects of a hardtech biomedical startup, including preclinical studies and clinician interactions.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and test the clinical prototype.
- Support mechanical development through hands-on design, development, and experimental oversight.
- Help design preclinical studies.
- Interface with clinicians.
Requirements
- BS or MS in mechanical or biomedical engineering or closely related fields (e.g., mechatronics, robotics).
- 1-3 years of work experience preferred.
- Basic experience with a range of fabrication approaches and their tradeoffs, with different materials (metal, polymers, ceramics, etc.).
- Experience with CAD tools (e.g., Solidworks, Fusion 360) and ability to design complex mechanical parts and assemblies.
- Interest in biomedical research and conducting benchtop experiments that may include ex vivo tissue.
- Ability to carefully execute experiments and analyze data.
- Elementary data analysis experience with Matlab and/or Python.
- General knowledge of medical imaging is a plus.
