About the Role

This role involves overseeing the maintenance of designated main and sub-inventories for hospital supply items. The position requires applying proper stores keeping methods and maintaining accurate records. Supervision of subordinate personnel may be exercised, and assistance will be provided to the Director in day-to-day activities.

Responsibilities

  • Receives, stores, and issues materials, supplies, and small equipment.
  • Maintains inventories of stock on hand and prepares requisitions for replenishment.
  • Checks quantity and quality of stocks received against purchase orders or requisitions.
  • Develops efficient stores methods and proper bin/storage assignments.
  • Maintains control records for supplies and makes required reports.
  • Edits and processes departmental requisitions.
  • Performs database maintenance tasks.
  • Performs inventory management and restocking of department sub-inventories.
  • Prepares and packs goods for shipping or delivery and makes transportation arrangements.
  • Makes discrepancy reports for shortages, damaged goods, or over-shipments.
  • Assists staff members in supply requisition preparation.
  • Performs related clerical, stores-keeping, and routine cleaning of stores.
  • Assists Director in analyzing market trends.
  • Assists Director in the buying of supplies.
  • Recommends procedures to enhance materials management.

Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma.
  • One year of experience in keeping stores, supplies, and related records.
  • One year of experience in preparing, recording, and maintaining records in a hospital setting.
  • An equivalent combination of training and experience is acceptable.
  • Possession of a current valid New York State Motor Vehicle Operator’s license at time of appointment.

  • Office automation (personal computers, bar code scanners, related accessories).
