About the Role

This professional position involves evaluating, planning, and providing physical therapy treatment to patients under physician's orders. The Physical Therapist is responsible for patient care, supervising aides, and contributing to the overall treatment plans and facility policies.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates patient's degree of function and disability.
  • Performs physical therapy procedures as ordered by a physician.
  • Supervises Home Health Aides in performing physical therapy tasks.
  • Participates in formulating patient's total care plans.
  • Assists in developing physical therapy policies and procedures.
  • Confers with superiors and physicians regarding patient care.
  • Assists in and participates in the facility's in-service education program.
  • Records patient evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
  • Maintains program records, including budget and statistical reports.
  • Performs evaluation and treatment for home-bound patients, including paperwork.

Requirements

  • Must possess a limited permit to practice Physical Therapy and have applied for or taken the licensing examination, OR possess a license and current registration as a Physical Therapist.
  • Graduate of an approved physical therapy program.
  • Ability to plan and supervise the work of others.
  • Ability to get along well with others.
  • Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.

  • Principles, techniques, and practices of physical therapy.
  • Operation and maintenance of physical therapy apparatus and equipment.
  • Pathological conditions and socio-economic factors affecting patient disabilities.
  • Community resources applicable to physical therapy.
