About the Role
Kickstart your career in electronics, communications and broadcast technology with BAI Communications. As a Broadcast Technician Apprentice, you'll learn from experienced technicians while working on the infrastructure that connects communities across Australia. You'll gain valuable hands-on experience supporting the installation, maintenance and repair of broadcast and communications equipment while completing a Certificate III in Electronics and Communications. This is a unique opportunity to develop practical technical skills in a field that underpins television, radio and critical communications services nationwide.
Responsibilities
- Assist qualified Broadcast Technicians with field and site-based activities.
- Support the installation, maintenance and repair of broadcast and communications equipment.
- Participate in preventative maintenance and fault-finding activities.
- Assist with site facility management and housekeeping activities.
- Support service restoration activities and escalate technical issues when required.
- Provide accurate verbal and written updates to the Network Operations Centre (NOC).
- Complete work orders, fault tickets and associated documentation.
- Undertake technical, safety and Electro Magnetic Energy (EME) training.
- Contribute to a safe working environment by following all HSE policies and procedures.
- Successfully complete the Certificate III in Electronics and Communications qualification.
Requirements
- Completion of Year 12 or equivalent, with strong results in English, Mathematics and Science (Physics highly regarded).
- Interest in electronics, telecommunications, engineering or technology-based careers.
- Ability to understand and apply technical concepts and instructions.
- Strong computer literacy and confidence using digital tools and systems.
- Current unrestricted driver's licence.
- Willingness to travel and work flexible hours when required.
