About the Role
We are seeking a software engineer to develop technology at the forefront of medical devices and precision surgery. This role involves designing, developing, and testing clinical prototypes, and architecting and implementing lab automation for experimentation and device testing. You will tackle hands-on engineering challenges integrating biophysics, image processing, deep learning, novel electronics, ultrasound, and real-time signal processing.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and test clinical prototypes.
- Architect and implement lab automation for ongoing experimentation and device testing.
- Develop tools and custom user interfaces for device prototyping and testing.
- Work closely with mechanical, electrical, and research teams to achieve clinical goals.
- Process test results and automate testing and measurement.
Requirements
- MS or BS in computer science or engineering, with 2+ years of equivalent work experience.
- PhD in electrical engineering, biomedical engineering, computer science, medical physics, or closely related fields considered.
- Entrepreneurial, self-motivated, and independent.
- Desire to grow technically.
- Excellent technical and analytical capability.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Python with experience in rapid prototyping.
- Experience with numeric analysis (numpy, scipy).
- Experience with image processing (opencv, scikit-image).
- Experience with deep learning packages (pytorch).
- Familiarity with user interface design and architectures (e.g., MVP, MVVP, MVC, Elm architecture), ideally with a focus on desktop applications.
- Familiarity with Qt in Python (PySide or PyQt).
- Knowledge of Python or Matlab for processing test results and test and measurement automation.
- General knowledge of medical imaging (e.g. ultrasound, CT, MRI) and image guided surgery is a plus.
- Experience with ultrasound prototyping hardware is a plus (e.g., Verasonics, Cephasonics).
- Experience applying image processing, computer vision, and/or deep learning techniques to medical images is a plus.
