About the Role

The Vice President of Philanthropy will own individual giving and engagement at Scholars of Finance, including strategy, relationships, team management, and results. This is a builder role focused on transforming a founder-led fundraising effort into a scalable institution, managing a portfolio of high-net-worth donors, and advising leaders on their philanthropic investments. This position offers a unique opportunity to significantly grow a proven nonprofit with strong backing.

Responsibilities

Be a member of the Executive Team, contributing to culture and mission achievement.
Set the vision, goals, and operating cadence for individual fundraising and volunteer engagement.
Own the fundraising pipeline, forecast, and daily efforts.
Build and manage the fundraising operating system, including KPIs and dashboards.
Manage budget and resourcing, anticipating seasonal shifts.
Take on and coach two direct reports: a fundraiser and a revenue operations manager.
Build, coach, and develop a high-performing fundraising team.
Establish systems for nonlinear growth in individual giving and engagement.
Foster a culture of trust, ownership, and continuous improvement within the team.
Collaborate with Partnership, Events, and Marketing teams for a cohesive donor experience.
Strategically involve the CEO and Board to close major gifts.
Personally identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward HNW and UHNW donors.
Grow existing donor relationships and increase their commitment.
Represent the organization credibly in high-stakes donor settings.
Build and oversee systems for mid-tier and monthly giving.
Develop systems and processes for engaging hundreds of volunteers.

Requirements

8+ years of relevant experience in nonprofit fundraising, major gifts, or philanthropy, preferably linked to finance, education, or leadership development.
3+ years of experience building, managing, and developing high-performing teams.
Demonstrated success in sourcing, closing, and stewarding major gifts.
Proven experience building systems, teams, and processes for managing hundreds of relationships.
Ability to operate effectively in fast-moving, deadline-driven environments.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
Proven ability to set and execute a fundraising or revenue strategy with measurable outcomes.
Comfort working on a fully-remote team.
Ability to travel up to 10-20% of the time.
Experience building and running an operating cadence that drives execution.
Ability to lead through others, including staff, interns, contractors, and senior stakeholders.
Strong people leadership skills, including coaching and developing others.
