About the Role
This role involves planning, managing, and continuously optimizing the entire supply chain, from procurement to the timely delivery of materials and components for production. It requires selecting, qualifying, and developing suppliers, negotiating contracts and prices, and ensuring delivery reliability, especially with long lead times typical in the aerospace industry. The position also includes inventory and capacity planning, managing obsolescence, maintaining supply chain processes in the ERP system, analyzing KPIs, and contributing to export control.
Responsibilities
- Planning, steering, and continuous optimization of the entire supply chain – from procurement to the timely provision of materials and components for production
- Selection, qualification, and development of suppliers, considering industry-specific quality and certification requirements (e.g., EN9100, ECSS)
- Negotiation of contracts, prices, and delivery conditions, as well as ensuring delivery reliability with long lead times and quantities typical in the aerospace industry
- Inventory and capacity planning in close coordination with production, purchasing, and project management
- Identification and management of obsolescence, as well as ensuring the availability of critical, sometimes long-lead-time components
- Maintenance and further development of supply chain processes in the ERP system
- Analysis of key figures (KPIs) for supplier performance, inventory coverage, and process efficiency, as well as derivation of improvement measures
- Participation in export control and compliance with relevant regulations in international trade
Requirements
- Completed degree in Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, Mechanical Engineering, or a comparable field
- Several years of professional experience in Supply Chain Management, ideally in a manufacturing, technology-driven environment with low volumes and high quality requirements
- Initial experience in the aerospace sector or comparable regulated industries (e.g., medical technology, automotive) is advantageous
- Confident use of ERP systems and knowledge of industry-typical quality standards
- Negotiation skills, assertiveness, and a good feel for supplier relationships
- Structured, analytical way of working and enjoyment of collaboration with different teams and interfaces
- Fluent German and English, both written and spoken
