About the Role
As a Store Associate, you’ll be at the heart of our guest experience, helping keep our stores clean, stocked, and running smoothly. You’ll gain valuable skills in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Responsibilities
- Deliver an exceptional guest experience by providing friendly, prompt service.
- Suggest additional products to enhance guest purchases.
- Address guest concerns with urgency and involve managers as needed.
- Foster a team-oriented, respectful work environment.
- Ensure food and beverage items are available and meet quality standards.
- Maintain cleanliness in food prep areas and follow all safety regulations.
- Restock shelves, coolers, and display areas as needed.
- Maintain a clean, welcoming store environment inside and out.
- Complete regular cleaning tasks to ensure a great experience for guests.
- Assist in inventory management and restocking.
- Greet guests and teammates with a smile, responding promptly and courteously.
- Respond promptly and respectfully to management directions, and be flexible and capable of working in all areas of the store.
- Prepare, handle, and serve food in accordance with safety and quality standards.
- Maintain a clean and organized food service area, ensure proper storage and labeling of ingredients, and adhere to all food safety regulations.
- Clean all areas of the store, including breaking down food equipment and following established cleaning procedures.
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols when handling chemicals.
- Ensure shelves are fully stocked, and backrooms and coolers are clean, well-organized, and maintained.
- Operate the cash register efficiently and accurately, process transactions, handle cash and card payments, and provide excellent guest service.
- Ensure the register area is clean, organized, and stocked with necessary supplies while adhering to all cash-handling policies and procedures.
- Act as the first point of contact for guest concerns, responding respectfully and compassionately while recognizing when to escalate issues to the shift manager.
- Meet guest transaction expectations by managing line lengths and providing polite, clear, and prompt communication.
- Follow all written and verbal instructions to uphold food safety standards, including thoroughly cleaning preparation stations.
- Proactively inform guests about promotional food items to raise awareness and drive product engagement.
- Act in accordance with all RaceTrac policies, as well as federal, state, and local safety regulations.
- Respond openly to feedback from guests, team members, and leaders, making necessary adjustments to enhance performance.
- Be a reliable team player by arriving on time for scheduled shifts, supporting teammates, sharing important information, and working effectively with individuals from different backgrounds.
- Engage with guests and teammates politely and respectfully, listening actively to their requests without interrupting.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED (or in progress)
- Previous experience in a fast-paced, guest-focused environment is a plus
- A team player who takes the initiative and enjoys working with people
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform physical tasks like bending and standing
- May be required to obtain and maintain food handler or alcohol server permits, depending on state/local regulations
