About the Role
Empire Fiber is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Fiber Design Engineer to design and support our expanding fiber optic network. This role involves collaborating with engineering, construction, and operations teams to create network designs that support new customers, improve existing service, and prepare for future growth.
Responsibilities
- Design fiber optic network routes for new construction and network expansion
- Create engineering drawings, maps, and project documentation
- Review project requirements and develop cost-effective network designs
- Perform field surveys and verify design information when needed
- Work with construction, operations, and permitting teams to keep projects moving
- Support permitting, easements, and utility coordination activities
- Maintain accurate engineering records and project documentation
- Help troubleshoot design issues and recommend practical solutions
- Ensure designs meet company standards, industry best practices, and safety requirements
Requirements
- Strong problem-solving and organizational skills
- Ability to read and understand maps, engineering drawings, and utility records
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects
- Valid driver's license required
