About the Role
Empire Fiber is seeking a hardworking and safety-focused Construction Driller to support underground construction and infrastructure projects. This position plays a critical role in installing underground utilities and ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and with quality workmanship.
Responsibilities
- Operate drilling equipment and support underground utility installation projects
- Perform directional drilling and bore operations in a safe and efficient manner
- Assist with locating existing underground utilities prior to drilling
- Set up, maintain, and inspect drilling equipment and job sites
- Work alongside construction crews to complete underground fiber and utility installations
- Read and interpret construction prints, maps, and utility layouts
- Ensure all work is completed according to safety standards and project specifications
- Troubleshoot field challenges and adapt to changing job site conditions
- Maintain accurate documentation and daily project updates
- Perform routine maintenance on drilling equipment and tools
Requirements
- Strong mechanical aptitude and equipment operation skills
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and field conditions
- Safety-focused mindset with attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a crew
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Experience with directional drilling, underground construction, or utility installation preferred
- CDL or equipment operation experience is a plus
- Valid driver’s license required
