About the Role

As a science teacher in New York City’s top-performing network of K-12 charter schools, you will join a team of professionals committed to teaching and preparing children from low-income neighborhoods to be self-assured thinkers and leaders. The Science program ignites a passion in scholars for scientific thinking and curiosity, empowering them to engage creatively, critically, and meaningfully with the world.

Responsibilities

Supervise a classroom of 20+ students.
Sharpen communication skills and develop strong, meaningful relationships with students, their families, and peers.
Write letters of recommendation at the middle school and high school level.
Become a highly skilled problem solver.
Assess and analyze data to chart student growth and tailor teaching methods.
Engage in professional development opportunities with school leaders.
Grow as a leader and potentially lead an entire grade team.
Transition to network office roles or school leadership tracks.

Requirements

A bachelor’s degree before your first day of work.
A rigorous and relevant academic major (i.e., biology, chemistry, physics, engineering).
Ability to work in person in New York City.
