About the Role

OTM is seeking an Underground Utility Technician / Utility Locator for a dedicated water utility locating program serving Batavia and Genesee County, NY. This role involves locating and marking underground facilities, managing utility tickets, and ensuring safety and accuracy. Experienced locators are preferred, but candidates with related utility, construction, survey, electrical, or water/wastewater field experience may be considered. This is a stable full-time opportunity with competitive pay, benefits, and a company vehicle.

Responsibilities

Screen, route, locate, document, and close out UDig NY/811 tickets.
Use GIS maps, utility records, service information, drawings, and ticket location data to determine conflicts.
Locate and mark water mains, water services, valves, curb boxes, and related underground facilities accurately and safely.
Use electronic locating equipment, tracer wire, paint, flags, photos, and mobile documentation tools.
Respond to normal daytime tickets and occasional short-notice/emergency or after-hours assignments.
Communicate professionally with excavators, utility representatives, clients, and supervisors.

Requirements

Valid New York State driver's license and acceptable driving record.
Ability to work independently, take ownership of ticket quality, and reliably cover Genesee County.
Residence within approximately 30 minutes of central Genesee County is strongly preferred.
