About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Cook with strong large-batch production skills to prepare, cook, and package meals for our Meal Program. The ideal candidate can read and scale recipes, work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen, and follow strict food safety and sanitation standards.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook large quantities of food and soup following standardized recipes.
- Scale recipes accurately and maintain consistent quality.
- Operate kettles, tilt skillets, ovens, and other commercial kitchen equipment.
- Supervise and assist volunteers during production and packaging.
- Maintain cleanliness and compliance with NYC Department of Health regulations.
- Accurately label, date, and store prepared meals.
- Cross-train and assist with other kitchen functions as needed.
Requirements
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs. (occasionally up to 100 lbs.).
- Flexible schedule required: availability for early mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
