About the Role
New York Bus Sales is seeking a Road Mechanic to cover the Albany area and South into Connecticut. This is a remote position based out of your home, utilizing a company vehicle. The primary function is to fulfill manufacturer recall notices and repair engine, equipment, and body-related components for warranty and customer pay issues.
Responsibilities
- Call customers and schedule appointments for recall, repair, or installation.
- Repair customer vehicles as needed.
- Track completed work using the work order system.
- Adhere to all prescribed safety methods and perform work safely.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous Automotive experience or equivalent required.
- Knowledge of 12 Volt electrical systems and associated hazards required.
- Cummins, Roush, Ford certifications or experience required.
- NYS CDL, Class B driver license with Passenger Transport and Air Brake endorsements required.
- Ability to understand oral and written instructions from supervisors, customers, and work orders.
- Ability to guide and instruct customers on recall procedures and repairs.
- Ability to use independent judgment and make sound business decisions within established procedures and policies.
- Commitment to ongoing training to stay current with trade knowledge and techniques.
- Sufficient speech and hearing for professional communication via in-person and telephone.
- Ability to read company and industry correspondence to understand and perform work.
- Sufficient writing or typing skills for notes and follow-through on recalls and work orders.
- Maintain professional working relationships with all customers.
- Demonstrate safety consciousness and ability to follow prescribed safety practices.
- Manual hand and finger dexterity for operating equipment and making repairs.
- Ability to frequently lift tools and parts up to 50lbs.
- Ability to occasionally lift over 50lbs.
- Ability to lift 100 lbs. and over with assistance for larger part repairs.
- Ability to frequently stand, walk, sit, bend/stoop, climb ladders, kneel, push/pull, twist, balance, crouch, and crawl.
- Ability to perform repetitive motion with hand tools.
- Sufficient vision to make repairs.
- Ability to drive a vehicle for company-related business.
