About the Role
We are seeking a Senior General Ledger Accountant to join our Group Accounting team. This role involves taking responsibility for our group accounting with experience, a keen eye for numbers, and a high standard of quality.
Responsibilities
- Maintain general ledgers and ensure monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements are accurate and timely.
- Manage intercompany transactions reliably within the group environment.
- Handle tax and reporting, from VAT pre-payments to statistical reports.
- Manage fixed asset accounting, including activations, depreciation, and ongoing maintenance.
- Process payroll journals routinely and reconcile accounts as needed.
- Provide accurate figures for company consolidation and ensure transparency.
- Create analyses and reports for management and other stakeholders.
- Act as a point of contact for auditors and tax advisors.
- Actively participate in process optimization and digitalization initiatives in accounting.
Requirements
- Solid education in accounting, such as a commercial apprenticeship or a degree in accounting, finance, or controlling.
- Several years of experience in general ledger accounting or group accounting.
- Ideally, further training as a certified accountant (Bilanzbuchhalter/in).
- Very good knowledge of German GAAP (HGB), supplemented by experience in tax law (especially VAT).
- Initial experience with international accounting standards (e.g., IFRS) and consolidation is advantageous.
- Proficient in using ERP systems and experienced in creating analyses and reports.
- Very good German language skills and good English skills, both written and spoken.
- Structured, independent work style with a good sense for numbers and interrelationships.
