About the Role
Ryder is hiring a Master Level Diesel Technician in Liverpool, New York, offering a stable career with weekly pay and excellent benefits. We provide state-of-the-art diagnostics and tools for mechanics working on heavy-duty vehicles.
Responsibilities
- Complete SBTIII training within 180 days.
- Complete all required OEM online diagnostic scan tool software courses within 365 days.
- Complete required instructor-led OEM courses.
- Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties, including standard, preventive, and complex repairs.
- Access and use internal and external maintenance documents.
- Diagnose and repair complex mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computers/software.
- Perform remote triage with RCRC and customers for roadside breakdowns.
- Perform facility maintenance duties.
- Interact with customers/drivers to determine the nature of complaints.
- Instruct and advise other technicians on maintenance, repair procedures, and diagnostics.
- Coach and mentor other technicians.
- Advise shop management and technicians on shop repairs.
- Utilize key functions of the Shop Management System and electronic documentation.
- Work in accordance with all federal, provincial, and corporate compliance guidelines.
- Provide other support duties as required, such as Service Island support.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Vocational or Technical Certification Post Secondary degree or Technical Certifications, preferred.
- Basic tools required.
- Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines.
- Experience with routine preventative maintenance, including oil changes, brake, and tire work.
- Experience with diagnostics and repairs, including AC and electrical systems.
- Experience with advanced skilled level repairs, including major engine repairs, diesel after treatment, or automotive fuel injection repairs, required.
- Four (4) or more years of relevant work experience, preferred.
- Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) CLASS A, preferred.
- All other certifications as required by location, required.
- Ability to perform all T3 tasks.
- Demonstrated advanced analytical and repair skills in vehicle maintenance.
- Effective interpersonal communication skills.
- Basic computer skills: PC, Windows, mouse, etc.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Availability for shift work, weekends, and on-call duty as required.
- Proficiency in operating shop computers and diagnostic test equipment.
- Minimum tool requirement must be met.
- Ability to road test vehicles as necessary.
- Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, and influence others.
- Must be able to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire.
- Must pass a Ryder Drug Test.
- Must pass a DOT physical.
- Must pass a Ryder road test.
- Must pass a Ryder Background and Motor vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years.

Salary/Compensations
- $39.50 per hour
- Certification Bonus of $100 for each New ASE Certification Obtained up to $700
- Quarterly Bonus: Up to $500 Every Quarter
- Sign On Bonus: $5000
- Top Tech Competition: Earn $250 – $50,000 per year
- Unlimited bonuses up to $1,500 for every hired Diesel Mechanic Technician and Fuel Service Employee
