About the Role

Powerback is seeking a Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) - Journey Traveler to provide speech-language services nationwide for 13-week assignments. This role offers flexibility to travel and work in various settings, organizing and delivering services to facilitate rehabilitation and enhance patient communication and swallowing functions.

Responsibilities

• Organize and provide speech-language services to facilitate rehabilitation.
• Direct patient participation in tasks to restore, reinforce, and enhance performance.
• Facilitate learning of skills and functions essential for communication and swallowing.
• Diminish or remediate disorders or deficits.
• Direct activities to promote and maintain health within the scope of practice.
• Supervise CFYs, temporary licensees, students, and support personnel as applicable.
• Ensure effective and efficient delivery of rehab services.
• Adhere to established plans of care, department and patient schedules, and timely documentation.
• Attend and contribute to patient care, staffing conferences, and other meetings.
• Make referrals to other disciplines and agencies to address comprehensive patient needs.
• Consult with the rehabilitation team to select appropriate therapeutic regimens.
• Adapt programs and/or plans of care according to individual patient needs.
• Promote a safe environment and enforce the elimination of fire and safety hazards.
• Order necessary supplies and equipment.
• Clean, maintain, identify, and report the need for repair of equipment.
• Prioritize patient service, ensuring high-quality care in a compassionate atmosphere.
• Screen, examine, and evaluate patients, including history, systems review, and application of tests.
• Interpret examination findings to establish diagnosis, identify impairments, and determine predicted improvement.
• Identify precautions/contraindications and design a plan of care.
• Develop appropriate treatment goals and methods in collaboration with patients and caregivers.
• Implement the speech language pathology treatment plan and complete all related documentation.
• Apply therapeutic techniques in areas such as cognitive-communication, speech intelligibility, oral motor skills, swallowing disorders/dysphagia, perceptual abilities, orientation, memory, pragmatics, psychosocial expression, and functional communication.
• Perform Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES) if trained and competent.
• Coordinate the acquisition of adaptive communication devices and instruct patients in their use.
• Facilitate identification of hearing deficits and refer for appropriate assessment and rehabilitation.
• Select appropriate activities suited to the individual's capacity, intelligence, and interest.
• Instruct patients in skills and techniques for therapeutic activities.
• Evaluate patient progress, attitudes, and behavior related to rehabilitative potential.
• Perform routine reexamination as needed to modify/progress the plan of treatment.
• Perform other related duties as required.

Requirements

• Must be able to travel nationwide for 13-week assignments.
• Must possess a master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology, Communication Disorders, Communicative Disorders or similarly titled area that is consistent and acceptable to the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
