About the Role
Microsoft Cloud Operations and Innovation (CO&I) is seeking a passionate and high-energy Datacenter Engineering Design Manager to manage the engineering scope, schedule, and budget for greenfield, brownfield, and retrofit engineering/design projects. This role will support network and regional growth in the North-East Asia region, managing internal and external resources for datacenter infrastructure delivery to align with Microsoft's capacity roadmap for the APAC region. The position involves facilitating and delivering industry-leading datacenter designs, including innovative technology and advanced concepts, from site due diligence through turnover to operations.
Responsibilities
- Support network growth/upgrade refresh project pipeline across the APAC Region.
- Conduct investigation and project scoping.
- Work with external and internal stakeholders to undertake feasibility studies.
- Provide findings and internal reporting from feasibility studies, proposing solutions and programs.
- Manage implementation and oversee compliance to the execution process.
- Support the built pipeline.
- Coordinate a team of architects, engineers, and designers to deliver projects aligned with defined scope, schedule, and budget.
- Collaborate with on-site operations teams to perform feasibility/Gap analysis for conversion of existing data center spaces to new/upgraded uses.
- Demonstrate excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills.
- Exhibit a high level of proficiency in commercial and industrial architecture and engineering, with a primary focus on datacenter design.
- Work effectively with other technical and non-technical groups in a fast-paced environment with an even temperament.
- Be a person of integrity, methodical, detailed-oriented with a strong work ethic.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, or related field (i.e. Project/Programme Management).
- Technical understanding of mission critical environments on a multidisciplinary level.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience and ability to lead a team of architects and engineers in advanced engineering and operational processes and procedures as they relate to large data center environments.
- Experience with design & construction procurement and contracts.
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements, including passing the Microsoft Cloud Background Check.
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in engineering, equipment and/or construction for mission critical or hi-tech industry.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a project or team manager.
