About the Role
The Senior Full Stack Engineer on the Designer Team collaborates with developers, product, design, and cross-team stakeholders to ship and maintain scalable, reliable, and performant full stack solutions within complex systems in a dynamic environment. This role offers an opportunity to tackle challenges, dive into an impressive system, grow with a fantastic team, and see the direct impact of your contributions.
Responsibilities
- Independently deliver solutions across the system and stack, from design through rollout.
- Write reusable, adaptable, well-tested code with a command of framework and language patterns and idioms, without unnecessary complexity.
- Refactor and simplify existing code, and proactively reduce toil and technical debt.
- Build and improve tools and processes to enhance team efficiency, alignment, and consistency.
- Ensure high-quality code and team growth through thorough, empathetic code reviews, resolving differences, fostering collaboration, and asking thoughtful questions.
- Share and document work, pair with teammates, and support them by leveraging their strengths.
- Proactively drive communication with stakeholders and teammates, collaborate across teams, and contribute to interviewing and assessing candidates.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience building and shipping production software as a full stack engineer.
- Proven track record of independently shipping full stack features in a large codebase.
- Comfortable creating, reading, extending, and refactoring code, and stewarding it from design through rollout.
- High proficiency in at least two core languages (TypeScript, Ruby, Python, Rust, Go, C++) and the ability to learn others.
- Passion for detail, idiomatic usage, and best practices and patterns.
- Experience writing reusable, adaptable, thoroughly tested code, with strong awareness of available libraries and tools.
- Judgment to separate necessary work from scope, and to make and communicate decisions, even with ambiguous information.
- Ownership and proactive stewardship of built components, with a keen eye for edge cases and externalities.
- A consistently high bar for implementation, communication, process, and attitude.
- A collaborative, growth-minded approach: guide teammates, apply feedback, and help grow others.
