About the Role
A family in Westchester County, NY, seeks a house manager/family assistant to support two principals and their two young adult children. This role involves household operations, culinary and event support, and housekeeping oversight. The ideal candidate is organized, service-minded, adaptable, and capable of leadership. Responsibilities include interacting with the family and household team, light cooking, event execution, and occasional travel, including in-flight service on a private aircraft. A warm, down-to-earth personality and collaborative spirit are essential.
Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed inspections to anticipate needs and address priorities.
- Coordinate with executive assistant and driver for family activities and travel.
- Maintain household organization.
- Manage household supply stock.
- Care for indoor plants and floral arrangements.
- Conduct family errands.
- Drive family locally when the family driver is unavailable.
- Oversee departure and arrival during travel, including packing and unpacking.
- Carry out duties in the absence of colleagues.
- Direct priorities of the housekeeping team.
- Conduct regular inspections of cleanliness, organization, and aesthetic needs.
- Publish housekeeping schedules and re-adjust personnel time allocation.
- Provide light cooking, meal prep, and facilitate meal service in the absence of the chef.
- Collaborate with the chef on event planning, execution, and project management.
- Assess food and beverage stock in family kitchens.
- Partner with the kitchen team to set tablescapes and prepare venues.
- Serve as primary back-up to the cabin attendant on the family's private aircraft.
- Provide in-flight services when traveling on the private aircraft.
- Accompany the family to out-of-state homes, coordinate with local staff, and care for family needs.
Requirements
- 7+ years of recent full-time experience as a house manager or similar role in a primary residence.
- Experience managing a housekeeping team within a home.
- Experience with aviation hospitality, yachting, and 5-star service environments is highly regarded.
- Well-versed in the care and maintenance of designer wardrobes, fine furnishings, furniture, artwork, and other high-value items.
- Willingness and ability to prepare simple, light meals and facilitate meal services.
- Strong project management and event planning skills.
- Comfortable with household management software and smart home systems.
- Punctual, highly discreet, excellent etiquette, and very trustworthy.
- Team player with excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Must have own transportation.
- Confident driver with a clean driving license and strong situational awareness.
