About the Role
The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) is responsible for organizing and conducting physical therapy programs under the supervision of a Physical Therapist to facilitate resident rehabilitation and recovery of function. The role involves assisting in the planning and implementation of therapy services to ensure the highest quality of resident care.
Responsibilities
- Organize and conduct physical therapy programs planned and overseen by the Physical Therapist.
- Assist in planning, organizing, developing, and implementing Physical Therapy services under the supervision of the Physical Therapist.
- Perform treatment programs for assigned residents.
- Enter billing information accurately and in a timely manner.
- Report resident progress in meetings, such as UR Meeting and Patient/Family Conference.
- Consult with other members of the rehabilitation team to coordinate physical therapy with other therapeutic activities.
- Provide residents with equipment as appropriate.
- Chart notes in an informative and descriptive manner reflecting therapy provided and resident response.
- Perform routine documentation in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Sign and date all entries made in residents’ medical records.
- Cooperate with all departments and staff to promote optimal resident care.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school of Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA).
- Licensed in NY State as a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) in good standing.
- Previous skilled nursing facility (SNF) experience highly preferred.
- Ability to work well under pressure.
- Willingness to work harmoniously with all staff.
- Sincere desire to work with the elderly, chronically ill, and handicapped.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to communicate well verbally with residents, families, and staff.
- Treat residents and fellow staff with respect, dignity, and compassion.
