About the Role

Jordan Health is seeking a Referrals Clerk/Interpreter to process transportation requests and medical referrals for specialty appointments, and to communicate with patients. This role is an opportunity to make a significant impact on patients' quality of life in an environment focused on serving those facing barriers to healthcare.

Responsibilities

  • Process internal and external referrals as requested by providers.
  • Verify patient insurance to determine if prior authorization is needed.
  • Process on-site transportation requests made by patients and/or providers.
  • Communicate with providers regarding referral and transportation processes.
  • Act as an interpreter between Spanish-speaking patients and healthcare providers, nurses, receptionists, and relatives.
  • Handle phone calls requiring an interpreter.
  • Provide backup support to other Referral Clerk/Interpreters as necessary.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • One year of directly related experience in a health care setting is strongly preferred.
  • Bilingual required.
  • Must be able to demonstrate competency in attention to detail and absolute accuracy.
  • Must be able to work with fellow workers in close proximity.
  • Must be able to concentrate in a highly interruptive atmosphere and be flexible due to changing work environment.
  • Good interpersonal human relation skills are a necessity.
