About the Role
The Peer Specialist will provide direct peer support services to clients, contribute to team planning, and assist with outreach and transitional care efforts in community settings. The Peer Specialist must possess the ability to engage and affect change through a person-centered model.
Responsibilities
- Plays an important role on the Clinical Team – meeting with team members and giving input when needed.
- Engage each client assigned to the team and provide guidance and advice as needed.
- Spend time with clients assigned to the team during mealtimes and recreation time.
- Escort and assist clients in going to HRA, Social Security, the bank, etc.
- Escort and assist clients in going to job interviews and housing trips to help find permanent housing.
- Attend community meetings as assigned.
- Provides feedback to the clinical team in order to determine how the team can service the client to the best of their ability.
Requirements
- Must have a High School diploma or equivalent.
- Possess strong communication skills, empathy, and compassion for the clientele residing at Kingsboro Men’s Mica Shelter.
