About the Role
The Engineer reports to the Manager of Engineering and plays a key role in developing and implementing in-service modifications, repairs, and other solutions to enhance aircraft reliability and operational excellence. This role ensures aircraft safety, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance by designing and improving aircraft in collaboration with other professionals.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with predictive digital technology teams to develop diagnostics and monitoring strategies for improved operational reliability.
- Review and disseminate service bulletins, service letters, and operator's letters to determine appropriate actions and initiate OEM engineering documentation.
- Enter Engineering Authorizations (EA) data into the electronic maintenance tracking program.
- Assist with the identification of intervals and methods for Airworthiness Directive compliance.
- Identify and act on opportunities to increase airline profit, block hours, decrease cost per block hour (CASM), and improve aircraft reliability.
- Generate clear and efficient work instructions through technical writing.
- Analyze and record component failures to improve airworthiness, time on wing, and reduce costs.
- Design, develop, and test solutions for aircraft systems.
- Perform engineering calculations and analyses to ensure aircraft safety, performance, and efficiency.
- Create and review technical documentation for aircraft systems and structures.
- Collaborate with other engineers, technicians, and specialists to optimize aircraft designs.
- Complete feasibility studies by analyzing project concepts, objectives, priorities, and requirements; conducting aircraft surveys; identifying and establishing technical solutions; and preparing technical documents and submittals.
- Monitor and maintain aircraft systems to ensure compliance with regulations and safety standards.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting for aircraft systems requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- At least three (3) years of experience in the aviation sector.
- Basic knowledge of aircraft structures, avionics, systems, or powerplants.
- Experience with project execution and teamwork, with the ability to collaborate across functions and levels.
- Experience writing project proposals.
- Reliability analysis skills to identify root causes of systems problems.
- Proficiency with data analysis tools such as Python, Excel, and SQL.
- Strong understanding of aerodynamics, physics, and relevant design standards.
- Ability to meet specific licensing and certification requirements depending on the area of specialization.
- Working knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) governing aircraft certification and maintenance.
- Ability to interpret sophisticated and technical engineering and OEM documents.
- Computer literacy in Microsoft software including Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, and Project.
- Excellent decision-making and problem-solving skills.
- Availability to work a flexible schedule, including shifts, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.
- Must be able to acquire and maintain a valid Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Badge.
- Availability for overnight travel (20%).
- Must pass a pre-employment drug test.
- Must be legally eligible to work in the country where the position is located.
- Authorization to work in the US is required; this position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
