About the Role

The Construction SDI Assistant Vice President/ Vice President is a member of Vantage's Construction team, responsible for underwriting according to authority level and established guidelines. This role adds creativity to tech-enabled efficiency and robust analytics to address risks others avoid. It reports to the Head of Construction – SDI and offers remote or hybrid flexibility within the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Review submissions to ensure alignment with risk appetite and business strategy.
  • Generate new business by working collaboratively with brokers and prospective SDI clients.
  • Be market-facing by cultivating new broker and customer relationships.
  • Analyze complex risks thoroughly and effectively.
  • Perform underwriting activities associated with managing all underwriting transactions, service standards, compliance rules, and documentation.
  • Demonstrate a customer service mindset by proactively engaging internal and external contacts.
  • Collaborate and correspond with internal and external contacts to achieve a high level of service and meet client expectations.
  • Interact directly with various business partners and internal departments.
  • Meet departmental service standards in place for each process.
  • Perform other duties and special projects assigned under minimal supervision.
  • Be flexible and understand that responsibilities and accountabilities will morph and change as the company grows.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience is required.
  • At least three to seven years of relevant industry experience is required.
  • Advanced knowledge of SDI Underwriting or Risk Engineering, Construction Operations, or Construction Risk Management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Expert skills using Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Experience with AI platform usage in a business setting, such as Claude or ChatGPT.
  • Ability to process and adapt to change in a rapidly growing company environment.
  • Be curious, thrifty, and resourceful to manage through the unknowns of growing a specialty (re)insurance business from the ground up.
