About the Role
The Supply Teacher will provide classroom coverage on an as-needed basis in the Junior School, assisting with supervision, co-curriculars, and implementing the assigned program within the classroom.
Responsibilities
- Create and contribute to a classroom environment that inspires and supports learning and personal growth through a Social Emotional Learning (SEL) lens
- Establish supportive rapport with students and colleagues
- Motivate students to develop the skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a strong foundation for further education in accordance with each student's ability
- Deliver lessons that allow for differentiated learning for all students, as assigned by the teacher
- Use relevant technology to support instruction
- Supervise students during lessons, at recess and lunch or as assigned
- Demonstrate a flexible, responsive approach to teaching and learning
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution
- Ontario College of Teachers certification or equivalent degree with Primary/Junior qualifications
- Minimum of 1-2 years of teaching experience
- Specialty in French, Physical Education, and/or Music is an asset
- Experience with and knowledge of IB is an asset
- Proven ability to build a caring rapport with students
- Knowledge of relevant technology; able to work effectively in an iPad and MacBook environment using required applications
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong commitment to duty of care
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Accountable and responsible, is self-motivated, and shows strong initiative
- Maintains a positive attitude and a calm, professional demeanour
