About the Role

The Supply Teacher will provide classroom coverage on an as-needed basis in the Junior School, assisting with supervision, co-curriculars, and implementing the assigned program within the classroom.

Responsibilities

  • Create and contribute to a classroom environment that inspires and supports learning and personal growth through a Social Emotional Learning (SEL) lens
  • Establish supportive rapport with students and colleagues
  • Motivate students to develop the skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a strong foundation for further education in accordance with each student's ability
  • Deliver lessons that allow for differentiated learning for all students, as assigned by the teacher
  • Use relevant technology to support instruction
  • Supervise students during lessons, at recess and lunch or as assigned
  • Demonstrate a flexible, responsive approach to teaching and learning

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution
  • Ontario College of Teachers certification or equivalent degree with Primary/Junior qualifications
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of teaching experience
  • Specialty in French, Physical Education, and/or Music is an asset
  • Experience with and knowledge of IB is an asset
  • Proven ability to build a caring rapport with students
  • Knowledge of relevant technology; able to work effectively in an iPad and MacBook environment using required applications
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong commitment to duty of care
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Accountable and responsible, is self-motivated, and shows strong initiative
  • Maintains a positive attitude and a calm, professional demeanour
  • Alignment with Branksome Hall’s mission, vision and values
